Significant event or material change notices

Existing members of the Bendigo SmartStart Super and Bendigo SmartStart Pension were notified that the Trustee and issuer of Bendigo SmartStart Super and Bendigo SmartStart Pension is changing from Sandhurst Trustees Limited to Bendigo Superannuation Pty Ltd as of 1 May 2022. 

Existing Bendigo SmartStart members were notified of changes made to the target asset allocations of some investment options as well as a reduction in the risk levels for some of the investment options during the last year.

Effective 1 December 2020, the commission component of 20% (plus GST) from insurance premiums which applied to some insurance cover in place prior to 1 July 2014 was removed from Bendigo SmartStart Super.

Existing Bendigo SmartStart Super and Bendigo SmartStart Pension members were notified of changes to the buy-sell spreads for each of the managed fund investment options, effective from 5 August 2020.

Bendigo SmartOptions members were notified of this product closure in a Significant Events Notice, via letter on 17 August 2020. This product has been closed to new members since 1 July 2019.

Existing Bendigo SmartStart and Bendigo SmartOptions members were notified of changes to insurance cover effective 1 July 2020. New members who join the fund prior to 1 July 2020 but after the date of the initial letter being issued will also be notified via an insert with their Welcome letter.

Existing employers who currently utilise the Bendigo Superannuation Contribution Service (BSCS) were notified of the change to the Administrator of the Bendigo Superannuation Plan which was effective 31 December 2019.

Existing Bendigo SmartStart and Bendigo SmartOptions impacted members were notified of changes made by the Putting Members Interests First legislation that comes into effect on 1 April 2020.

Existing Bendigo SmartOptions Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension members with investments in the Pendal Active Conservative Fund (APIR Code: BTA0805AU) investment option were advised of changes to the Fund's asset allocation ranges and neutral positions effective from 6 November 2019.

Existing Bendigo SmartOptions members were notified of the product's closure to new members effective from 1 July 2019

Existing Bendigo SmartStart Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Super members were notified of insurance premium increases effective 1 July 2019. The Protecting Your Super legislation lead to the cost of insurance increasing effective 1 July 2019.

Bendigo SmartOptions Super members whose insurance cover commenced prior to 1 July 2014 and did not have an adviser linked to their account were informed that the insurance commission component of their insurance premium had been removed effective 1 April 2019.

Bendigo SmartOptions Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension members with investments in the following investment option were advised of its termination and removal from the investment menu of both products, effective 29 January 2019.

Bendigo SmartOptions Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension members with investments in the following investment options were advised of the merger between Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life Investments which resulted in the change of company name and fund names to reflect the new Aberdeen brand.

In addition, Bendigo SmartOptions Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension members with investments in the Aberdeen Standard Actively Hedged International Equities Fund were advised of the small change to its investment strategy and Bendigo SmartOptions Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension members invested in the Aberdeen Standard Multi-Asset Income Fund were advised of the change to its asset allocation.

Bendigo SmartOptions members with investments in the Grant Samuel Epoch Global Equity Shareholder Yield (Hedged) Fund (APIR GSF0001AU) were notified of its removal from the investment menu of both Bendigo SmartOptions Super and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension, effective 13 August 2018. These members were informed the reason for the removal and were provided the options to either retain the investment or switch out of it.

Bendigo SmartOptions members with investments in the following investment options were advised of the changes to the name of the responsible entity, the investment manager, and also the options themselves.

Bendigo SmartOptions Superannuation and Bendigo SmartOptions Pension members were advised of the change to their investment in which Australian Ethical Balanced Fund (APIR code: AUG0001AU) retail units were suspended on 29 March 2018 and replaced with wholesale units of the Australian Ethical Balanced Fund (new APIR code: AUG0017AU).
